Sharon Winsor belongs to the Ngemba tribe from North West NSW and is a descendant of the Weilwan clan. Sharon is the Managing Director & CEO of Thulli Dreaming & Indigiearth, an Aboriginal owned & operated business, est in 1997 in Sydney’s Western Suburbs.
Beginning her career as a outreach worker, working with homeless, Sharon is passionate about strengthening Aboriginal People and Culture and does this by employing local Aboriginal staff and showcasing Aboriginal culture from the Ngemba people.
Thullii Dreaming was established in 1996 to showcase a broad spectrum of Indigenous art and cultural traditions. Defying trends, this small, determined Aboriginal business has demonstrated longevity, diversity, survival and success. The brainchild of Sharon Winsor, (winner of the 2010 AIMSC Supplier Diversity Award for work done in conjunction with the Marriott Australia.), Thullii Dreaming has touched the lives of many, giving work opportunities to Indigenous Australians and educating people about Indigenous Australia and the First Australians. In 2009, as a natural extension to its cultural offerings, Thullii Dreaming launched IndigiEarth, Natural Earth Products- a range of contemporary skincare and food products and natural bottled spring water. In 2011, Sharon was the first Indigenous Australian business to attend the National Minority Supplier Development Council conference and trade show in Atlanta Georgia USA, representing minority Aboriginal business owners in Australia.
Among being the CEO of Thullii Dreaming and the creative force of her business, Sharon is also the lead singer of the Thullii Dancers, her professional and unique traditional Aboriginal dance group, who perform traditional song and dance from the Ngemba tribe. Sharon has been performing professionally for 15 years and led her professional dance group through performances for clients such as P & O Cruises, Queen Elizabeth cruise liners, Tyra Banks & America’s next top model, Oprah Winfrey’s ultimate Australian experience, NRL football matches, Sydney Royal Easter show True Blue production, Australian High Commission, Fox television, channel 9, KPMG, Westpac Bank, International performances in Abu Dhabi, Papa New Guinnea, Poland, New Zealand and Germany.
Sharon has a unique creative ability to create and satisfy the senses of any taste with Australian native foods. A self taught professional cook, continuing traditional cooking methods that have been passed down for many generations and infusing them with a contemporary style, Sharon has a satisfied and returning corporate client base for her catering services and expertise of bush tucker foods, bush tucker demonstrations’ and consultant for hotel Chefs to develop menu’s and much more.
Being passionate about her Aboriginal culture and heritage, Sharon’s ability to speak to audiences of any size & people of all ages is unique. Guest appearance speaking can be on any or all of the following topics, Traditional history & culture, dreamtime stories, bush foods, medicines, Aboriginal business, Aboriginal dance – she may also even surprise the audience and sing a traditional song!
"Thullii" - meaning sand goanna and is a totem of the Ngemba people. Thullii Dreaming is a certified supplier of AIMSC - Australian Indigenous Minorities Council and Sharon actively contributes to the community as a representative for her people to government.
