Workshops

Workshops for Schools   

Workshops are informative and entertaining rituals of Aboriginal culture for students of all ages. Students become actively involved in the workshops and learn an extensive amount of Aboriginal culture and history. 

For a full day of workshops and fun activities, students rotate through various workshops that can include:

  • Traditional Dancing
  • Aboriginal art
  • Boomerang throwing
  • Story telling
  • Jewellery making
  • Ochres & body painting
  • Traditional Artefacts & Weaponry
  • Bush Tucker Foods & Tasting

At the completion of the day's workshop, the Thullii Dreamtime Performers will entertain students and staff with a performance where students will also participate with the group and perform dances learnt throughout the workshops.

Workshops are not restricted to one day, they can be individual workshops with classes on an hourly basis or they can be spread over two or more days.

Thullii Dreaming also offer a number of additional services to schools and students including:

Workshops for the Workplace   

Thullii Dreaming offers cultural workshops and activities to the workplace or any function where People can get hands on experience and gain relevant information about Aboriginal culture and history. Workshops are interactive and are suitable for anyone who works within the Aboriginal community or who would just like to learn about Aboriginal culture.

With over 500 different tribes in Australia, you can never learn too much of Aboriginal culture, as all tribes are different. Thullii Dreaming is of the Ngemba tribe North West NSW and is committed to promoting and educating the Wider community about Aboriginal culture in New South Wales.

Activities:

  • Group painting/Mural: Group divide into smaller groups, and will receive a canvas, paints and symbols sheet, each group together will paint a story using Aboriginal symbols, then present their story to the group.
  • Artefacts Display & Cultural Talk: Demonstration and talk of traditional weaponry, Didjeridu, Aboriginal life – traditional and contemporary, hunting, marriages, kinship, totems. Audience interaction with questions and discussions.
  • Bush Tucker workshop: A bush tucker workshop involving, native plants, bush fruits, traditional cooking, plant uses, and medicinal uses. Bush tucker tastings with damper, native jams & rainforest punch.
  • Traditional Dance: Your group will be enticed with learning about Aboriginal dance, learning about why, where & when Aboriginal dance occurs, the different levels and stages of learning dance, ochres and body painting, the meanings and reasons behind body designs, colours of ochres and dancing grounds. The audience will participate in learning some dance and enjoy a performance by some of the Thullii Dreamtime Performers.
